Frederick Knapp brings over 35 years of award-winning real estate expertise in asset acquisition, management, and operations, with experience in both national and international markets, including the UK. He has presented for the Urban Land Institute (ULI) on topics such as mixed-use developments, large-scale projects, and sustainable land use practices.
At Gale International, Frederick managed a commercial asset portfolio spanning 10-15 million square feet and maintained the company's international corporate FM portfolio. He then spent 12 years with Related Management Company, overseeing commercial assets including the Time Warner Center. Frederick led the renowned Hudson Yards Project and spearheaded the repositioning of a residential management organization overseeing 48,000 units to profitability.
As Executive Director for Hudson Yards, Frederick was responsible for predevelopment, operational oversight, and leasing. He established the service organization to manage all Hudson Yards assets and was responsible for asset management, operations, security, and coordination with key agencies like the NYPD, FDNY and counter terrorism agencies. He also played a crucial role in lease negotiations and reporting.
In 2019, Frederick moved to San Francisco to manage a multifamily portfolio as Chief Operating Officer. He repositioned and operated a 3,200-unit community, with development rights for expansion to over 9,000 units. Frederick contributed to the conceptualization and execution of a 30 million square foot development, demonstrating his expertise in complex P&L business plans.
Frederick's leadership extends to a variety of strategic initiatives, including the development and operation of Hudson Yards (12.8 million sq ft), Time Warner Center (2.8 million sq ft), the opening of GSK’s Global HQ in London, New Songdo City in South Korea, One Lincoln Street in Boston, 11 million sq ft of high street retail in NYC, and repositioning critical infrastructure for the BBC and AT&T HQ (10 million sq ft).
For the past two decades, Frederick has focused on organizational development to manage complex, high-profile assets and achieve profitability through diverse economic conditions. His experience in navigating through three economic downturns while managing large-scale projects in unparalleled.
Frederick is the Founder and President of Knapp Capital Management (KCM). KCM is a vertically integrated real estate investment, management, technology and services firm centered around culture. KCM leverages technology to enhance the efficiency and productivity of its acquisition and management teams, ultimately driving greater scalability, quality and faster execution.
Frederick is a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, a post-graduate alumnus of Yale School of Management, and a former college and NBA basketball player. His commitment to strategic and executional success is evidenced by his extensive career achievements.
